Safe listening · with Custom Cans

Turn the world down. In our own colours.

Custom Cans build and modify headphones by hand at their workshop in Cheltenham, and they take on one-off and small runs in a brand's own logo and colours. That is exactly the shape of a DD pair: over-ear noise-cancelling cans in navy and amber, with the DD house mark standing on the cup, plus matching buds. They offer a two-year warranty on their work, and as a rule they work on headphones that retail over £100 — which is the only way a pair lasts long enough to be worth buying.

Over-ear noise-cancelling headphones in matte navy with amber ear cushions, beside matching earbuds in an amber caseThe DD house mark
The DD rangeThe over-ear cans

Noise-cancelling for the loud days, in the DD navy-and-amber colourway, with the house mark standing on the cup.

Made to order in Cheltenham
The DD rangeThe matching buds

Pocket quiet for the bus, the office, the supermarket run. The case carries the same house mark, so the kit looks like one family rather than three separate purchases.

Customisable · same colourway

Nothing is charged until the sample pair is in hand and the fit, the returns and the warranty are agreed in writing. When the first sample lands, it appears here with the real photographs.

Open-ear listening

Ears open. Road audible. Music still good.

The safest buds for walking home, cycling or running alone are the ones that never seal you in. Every pair below leaves the ear canal open, so engines, bikes and footsteps reach you while the track plays. We shortlist them from current UK reviews and the makers' own specs, and you buy them direct — we take no cut and print no prices, because they move.

Clip-on cuff

Bose Ultra Open Earbuds

A soft cuff that clips to the ear instead of plugging it, so traffic, footsteps and a friend's voice still come through.

Ear-hook

Shokz OpenFit 2

Sits in front of the canal on a flexible hook — the shape runners have trusted for years when they need to hear the road.

Ring driver

Sony LinkBuds Open

A ring-shaped driver with an open centre: music at the edges, the room straight through the middle.

Clip-on bridge

Huawei FreeClip

A C-bridge that grips the ear without a hook, which is the lightest-feeling of the four on a long day.

Honest trade-off: open-ear means less bass and far less isolation, by design. That is the safety. None of these are hearing protection — for a loud gig, a building site or a meltdown-level supermarket, the over-ears above are the right tool, not these.

Home, room by room

The same softness, for the whole home.

Pioneering pieces for the rooms where the day actually happens — same fabrics, same DD mark, same promise that nothing scratches, buzzes or shouts.

🍽️ The kitchen

Things that touch your hands

Aprons and oven gloves in brushed cotton with the DD stitched at the hem, and undyed organic-cotton tea towels. Nothing plasticky near heat or skin.

🛋️ The living room

Company you can sink into

A chunky-knit throw, a floor cushion for sitting low, and a warm 2700K lamp with a dimmer — light you can turn down without turning it off.

🛏️ The bedroom

Dark, quiet, nothing scratchy

Blackout linen curtains, a quilted bed runner, and scent-free cotton pillowcases. The last hour of the day, made softer.

Where it comes from

Made on demand. Never piled high.

Nothing sits in a warehouse. Each piece is made when it's ordered, by the partners we're shortlisting now.

Hoodies & trackies

Stanley/Stella certified organic cotton blanks, heavyweight zip-thru and pullover, printed and fulfilled in the UK by Inkthreadable. For full cut-and-sew control: NO FUGAZI (London), brushed fleece from 50 pieces.

Premium bamboo tees

Bamboo jersey isn't standard UK print-on-demand yet. Shortlist: Bamboo Clothing (DTG on bamboo, no minimums) and Print Natural (water-based inks). UK organic fallback: Teemill, printed on the Isle of Wight.

Weighted blankets & eye masks

Not print on demand. Low-minimum makers: Ecozymat (OEKO-TEX, low MOQ) and Therapy Blankets, handmade in Europe.

The DD fidgets

The hard resin keyring is hand-cast by a small-batch maker. The stretchy DD: UK option Mellow Fidgets, or moulded TPR/silicone from Leeline Toys and Jin Sheu, batches of 100 to 500.

The wash bag

Print on demand, so a single bag can carry the full DD print: Contrado in the UK make printed toiletry bags to order with no minimum, and Prodigi fulfil from the UK with no minimums either. The woven Diverse Digs label is the part we sew on ourselves, because a printed logo on a bag is not the same as a label you can feel.

Safe headphones

Custom Cans in Cheltenham: hand-built at their own workshop, one-off and small runs in a brand's logo and colours, custom airbrushing, a two-year warranty on their work, and official partner status with Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser. The DD pair is a sample-first conversation, not a drop-ship listing.

In the works

Pioneering what comes next.

Concepts for the next drops, all built around the same idea: comfort that works with your senses, not against them.

The calm pocket

A deep middle pocket, built for pressing your hands into when the world gets loud.

Fidget-loop drawcords

Soft loops on the hood, made to be twiddled without thinking about it.

The wearable hug

A hoodie with a gently weighted collar. Deep pressure you can put on and take off.

The blanket hoodie

Weighted warmth you can wear, for the days a blanket isn't enough but a duvet is too much.

Stim-friendly zip pulls

Chunky, quiet zipper pulls you can fiddle with one-handed.

The stretchy DD

An interlinked DD you can pull, stretch and manoeuvre. A proper stim toy, alongside the hard resin keyring.
